VINTAGE FESTIVAL HITS THE STREET
Delicious food and live music feature alongside artisan markets, craft displays and creative activities for the whole family.
The music program includes the funk, jazz neo-soul sounds of The Amani Consort; upbeat rhythms of South American inspired Los Car Keys; and the gorgeous acoustic jazz sounds of The Endearing Y’s.
Vancouver Arts Centre will be alive with art and craft displays, 3D photographs of historic Albany, tours of the Bella Kelly Retrospective Exhibition and a dress up zone so you can look your vintage best.
The annual Tweed Ride will be a key feature of the festival as vintage bicycles and Penny Farthings take to the streets. Everyone is welcome to ride in the event. Please meet at the University of Western Australia at 12.45pm in your best tweed. Non-vintage bicycles are welcome and helmets are compulsory.
This year, The Tweed Ride will be joined by a History Walk with Malcolm Traill of the WA Museum, Albany. Take in Albany’s historic sites and stories as you walk from UWA to the Vancouver Arts Centre. Walkers meet at UWA at 12.45pm.
The Vancouver Street Festival runs from 11am – 4pm, Saturday 7 May with plenty of activities to keep the whole family busy. Interactive installations and workshops include retro puppet-making, a medieval saxophone and a chance to paint a ceramic pendant as a Mother’s Day gift.
The community is invited to dress for the occasion with a heritage, vintage or retro flair.
Festival parking available in Foundation Park, Parade Street, Albany.
