Albany Regional Day Care Centre

Albany Regional Day Care is a long day care centre that caters for up to 60 children each day. The centre was established in May 1977 and over the ensuing three decades has provided consistent quality care. Under the Quality Improvement and Accreditation System, it achieves 'High Standard' accreditation.

Albany Regional Day Care provides childcare for families working or studying; respite care is also available. The centre cares for children between six weeks and six years of age.

It provides a nurturing environment for children to develop and grow with the support of professional and experienced staff.

Visitors are welcome and will be given a full tour of the facilities along with an additional information pack.

Albany Regional Day Care Centre is renowned for its professionalism and low staff turnover. The Centre is accredited under the Quality Improvement and Accreditation System for long day care centres. It has been accredited at High Standard on each occasion. The centre also keeps current with the following certificates:

All staff at the Centre have extensive qualifications and training, which builds on the range of experience within the work team. The Centre supports and encourages staff development and liaises with resource providers to develop training experiences for all staff.

Qualifications held by centre staff include Certificate III Child Care, Mothercraft Nurse, Children's Services Diploma and teaching degrees. The Centre also takes child care students for training placements, which keep staff's approach to child care fresh and knowledgeable.

Staff strive to provide a stimulating and educational program daily. All nurseries develop weekly programs from individual and group observations. These programs are built around identifying and meeting the needs of each child.

The Centre has goals and objectives that drive quarterly programs for special events and experiences. The programs help children in all aspects of development.

Parent and community involvement with programs and experiences is encouraged. A Parent Advisory Committee helps maintain communication and meet the needs of staff and families.

Albany Regional Day Care Centre has an enthusiastic family approach towards fundraising to help achieve goals and targets for the Centre's environment and equipment.

The Centre is divided into four nurseries:

• A/B - six weeks to two years
• C - two years to two-and-a-half years
• D - two-and-a-half years to three years
• E - three years to six years

All nursery rooms are spacious and bright, with large individual outdoor areas for each age group. These playgrounds all have shady paved and grassed areas.

The Centre has an extensive range of play equipment, which is age appropriate for each room. All indoor and outdoor equipment is versatile to enable staff to provide a fresh and exciting new day for the children.

The Centre has a full-time cook with a comprehensive knowledge of the nutritional needs of children.

Each day the children are served morning and afternoon tea and a two-course lunch. A light late snack is also provided at the end of each day. Meals are on a six-week rotational menu with winter and summer versions.

Children are also included in cooking experiences to gain self-help skills and nutritional knowledge.

A nappy service is provided for families whereby the Centre uses cloth nappies throughout the day and complete sanitising and washing is included. Parents can provide their own nappies if they wish.

This program gives parents the flexibility to leave their children in a child care setting. The room provides age appropriate programs to help develop skills for moving on to pre-school.

Albany Regional Day Care Centre is registered with the Child Care Benefit Scheme and family's fees will differ according to their percentage eligibility. The Centre has full EFTPOS and credit card facilities.
