Middleton Beach design open for comment image

How Albany’s most popular beachfront looks and feels into the future will be strongly guided by the community with residents and visitors to have input into the design of the area.

Draft design guidelines and a foreshore management plan for the Middleton Beach Activity Centre are now open for public comment, with two community information sessions scheduled for this week.

It’s another positive step in progressing plans to develop Middleton Beach.

Mayor Dennis Wellington said it was important to get the development right by ensuring a mix of good planning principles and community feedback to retain and enhance the charm of Middleton Beach.

“We are eager to see further progress of the Middleton Beach site and have been working with Landcorp to offer more opportunities for community to look at the plans and make a comment,” he said.

The Community Information Sessions will be at the Albany Surf Life Saving Club on Thursday, April 12 from 4.30pm – 7.30pm, and Friday, April 13 from 8am –11am.

The public comment period opened on Monday, April 9 and closes on Monday, May 21.

“The time for comment has been extended to consider the school holiday period, and offers residents time to view the documents prior to the engagement sessions next week,” Mayor Wellington said.

“The City of Albany is keen to hear from the broader community about this very important development for Albany.”

A comprehensive social media and advertising campaign will support the engagement to attract more participation and increase awareness of the public comment period.
