Ranger Services

Upholding public order and safety

City of Albany rangers can be contacted seven days a week on 9841 9349 between 8am and 5pm. Outside these hours please leave a voice message on the same number and a ranger will return your call as soon as possible.
Where there is an immediate threat to life or property (such as stock on roads, dog attacks or fires) please contact 000 and a ranger will be requested to attend to the emergency.

Ranger responsibilities

City rangers investigate, issue infringements and enforce breaches of various State and local laws with the primary purpose being to uphold community law and public safety.

Dog control:

  • Pound information (if you have lost your dog or would like to give a dog a new home click here Pooch Pound)
  • Registering your dog
  • Dog exercise areas
  • Restricted breeds legislation
  • Dog related complaints and solutions
  • Keeping more than two dogs

General duties:

  • Off-road vehicle areas
  • Education programs
  • Parking control
  • Camping areas and obligations
  • Traffic control for events

Fire prevention:

  • Firebreak requirements in the City

Native fauna

Should you require assistance with an injured or dangerous native animal (including the removal of snakes) contact the Albany office of the Department of Environment and Conservation on 9842 4500.
