Community Financial Assistance Program

The Community Financial Assistance Program (CFAP) facilitates financial asistance to not-for-profit organisations that provide social, economic or environmental benefits to the City of Albany. The program provides:

  • Sundry donations
  • Minor grants
  • Major grants
  • Youth crisis grants

The funding helps the groups develop and maintain facilities, carry out activities and operate effectively. The program is designed to build the capacity of the community to meet its own needs and aspirations.

Recipients of grants under this program

Sundry donations

Minor donations up to $200 can be applied for at any time. A written request addressed to the Chief Executive Officer and providing details about the proposed use of the funds is all that is required.

Minor grants

Grants from $201 to $10,000 are allocated through two funding rounds each year, with applications closing on May 30 and November 30. Applicants should read the CFAP guidelines before making an application and must use the standard CFAP application form. The Community Financial Assistance Committee, under delegated authority of the Council, approves minor grants.

 

These grants are directed towards:

 

  • Community facilities on Council land
  • Community services
  • Economic development
  • Emergency services

 

Major grants

Grants greater than $10,000 are allocated through one funding round. Applications close on November 30 and approved funding is made available in the following financial year. Applicants should read the CFAP guidelines before making application and must use the standard CFAP application form.

Youth crisis grants

Grants up to $10,000 are allocated through two funding rounds each year, closing on May 31 and November 30. Applicants should read the CFAP guidelines before making an application and must use the standard CFAP application form.

Landfill (Waste) Subsidy Scheme

Charitable and/or benevolent organisations may be eligible for subsidised landfill waste disposal. The scheme offsets landfill charges only. Applications must be submitted in writing addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, and should include information verifying eligibility and details of expected waste types, volumes and regularity of disposal.

Community Events Financial Assistance Program

The City provides financial and practical help to community events such as Anzac Day, the Albany Agricultural Show and the Albany Weekender Classic Motor Event.

Community and not-for-profit groups can apply for assistance to run their events under the Community Events Financial Assistance Program.

This financial assistance benefits the whole community by promoting tourism development and enhancing social and cultural life. There is one funding round annually, closing on May 30 each year.

Heritage Conservation Incentives Grants Guidelines

The City of Albany is pleased to offer small grants to owners to assist and promote the conservation of heritage places in the City, and to foster positive outcomes for these heritage places. The grants will be an incentive to owners to conserve their properties, including associated significant elements and features. This incentive program reflects the importance of Albany’s heritage and its contribution to the social and economic welfare of the City. It also acknowledges the cost to owners of conservation and the community interest in conserving privately owned heritage places.

The main purpose of the grants is to fund, in part or total, minor conservation works and other related projects to privately owned places that are heritage listed. Heritage listing includes those places on the City of Albany’s Municipal Heritage Inventory or the State Register of Heritage Places. Grants will be considered on the basis of there being no alternative sources of funding available for the work/project identified from other organisations or agencies.
