Customer Complaints & Requests

Help us with your feedback

Customer complaints

The City welcomes service complaints as a form of feedback that helps identify opportunities to improve services.

Service complaints often go unreported because people believe that the process of complaining will cause more inconvenience than the problem itself.

To simplify the complaints process and capture as many service complaints as possible, the City has developed a quick and efficient Service Complaint Policy and Procedure. This document outlines the definition of a service complaint and the complaint process, and includes a form should you wish to lodge a formal complaint.

For further information about lodging a service complaint, please contact the City’s Manager Customer Services by E-mail or on (08) 9841 9360.

Albany's residents are the City’s eyes and ears for customer service requests. If you notice an uneven footpath, a dangerous pothole or damage to City property, please lodge a service request using our online E-mail submission form.

You can also lodge a service request for further details on a City project or service.

For more information about lodging a service request, please contact the City’s Manager Customer Services via E-mail or telephone on (08) 9841 9360.

Public Interest Disclosures

What is a public interest disclosure

Under the Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003, any person can make disclosure if they believe something is wrong with the way a public authority, public officer or public sector contractor is acting, or may be going to act, which is of public interest.

This might involve:

  • improper conduct
  • an offence under State laws (including corruption)
  • administration matters
  • irregular or unauthorised use of public resources
  • substantial mismanagement of public resources
  • conduct that involves a substantial and specific risk of injury, prejudice to public safety or harm to the environment.

The Public Interest Disclosure Act 2003 outlines what may be disclosed, who it must be disclosed to, and also provides for the protection of people who make a public interest disclosure (PID), as well as those who may be subject of a disclosure.

A public interest disclosure must always be related to a public sector, local government or public university function. It does not apply to information that someone has, or is, engaging in criminal behaviour unconnected to their employment.

The City of Albany recommends you seek further advice from the City of Albany Public Interest Disclosure Officer or the Office of the Commissioner for Public Sector Standards, before making a disclosure.
