The City of Albany proposes a Local Law relating to the conduct of meetings. The purpose of this local law is to provide a set of procedures to assist in the conduct of Council and committee meetings. The intended result of this Local Law is: • Improved decision-making by the Council; • More efficient and orderly conduct of Council meetings; • Greater community participation and understanding of Council business; and • A more open and accountable local government. ROAD WORKS - ROBERT STREET The City of Albany advises that works will be undertaken on Robert Street, commencing 21 May. Works will involve asphalt resurfacing and driveway alterations. VERGE PRUNING The City of Albany advises that verge prunning and shoulder repairs will be occuring on Frenchman Bay Road between Bay View Drive and Quaranup Road, including Bay View Drive and Chipana Drive commencing on Monday 15 May 2012. LIFTING OF RESTRICTED PERIOD The City of Albany wish to notify all land owners that the restricted burning period has ceased. Permits are not required to burn. The City encourages the public to liaise with their neighbours prior to burning.

EXTENDED TRADING HOURS FOR FOUNDATION DAY LONG WEEKEND 2012 The City of Albany advises that extended trading hours for Foundation Day long weekend Sunday 3 and Monday 4 June 2012, 8am to 6pm have been approved by the Hon. Pruning The City of Albany will be undertaking tree pruning for power line clearances on Albany Highway, between York Street and Sanford Road. LIVING STREAM PROJECT, NORTH ROAD The City of Albany wishes to advise that work will begin on 26 April, 2012 to create a ‘living stream’ linear wetland, linked to the Centennial Park sporting drainage system at the corner of North and Sandford Road behind existing State Emergency Service and Scout Hall. This site is currently a severely degraded open ditch drain covered in weed bushland. The work will extend from North Road to the existing footbridge of existing irrigation pond and is expected to take six weeks. A living stream is a retrofitted stormwater conveyance channel that will mimic the characteristics of a natural stream capable of safely conveying large flows. These works will be an attractive feature of the landscape and will create diverse habitat and restore environmental characteristics through native and indigenous plantings that can also remove pollutants. PROHIBITED BURNING Pursuant to Section 18(5a) of the Bush Fire Act 1954, the City of Albany hereby notifies all landowners and/or occupiers within the City of Albany that the PROHIBITED BURNING SEASON shall start as of the midnight the 14 December 2011 within the South West sector. The NORTH EAST SECTOR as of the 1 December 2011, is now in the prohibited season. As of these date no permits to burn shall be issued NO FIRES ARE TO BE LIT IN THE OPEN AIR.
