Before his election to Council, Chris Thomson held senior roles with national, state and local-level economic development agencies in the private and public sectors, and had been a news editor and university lecturer.
He is chair of the City’s Development and Infrastructure Services Committee, and serves on several other Council committees.
In addition to his Council work, Chris is a member of the executive committee of the South Coast Alliance and advisory committee of the Museum of the Great Southern.
He has postgraduate degrees in journalism, creative writing, and urban and regional planning, and is completing a PhD.
Chris works as a media and policy advisor, and thinks Albany is the best place in the world.
