Charge of Beersheba Service

Past Event

Join us for the Charge of Beersheba Service at the Desert Mounted Coups Memorial.
This event has been recorded as the last mass cavalry charge in military history.
The charge, conducted very late in the afternoon and as a risky frontal attack, was victorious and significant in the Palestine Campaign. The Light Horse units were mounted infantry, not cavalry, and their charge at Beersheba was mounted only to employ their usual tactic of riding to a secure hide, dismounting and then attacking on foot. It could not have occurred in the time available before darkness fell.
The service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, 30 October at the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial.
