Djilba (Spring) A Moment in Time

Past Event

Featuring as part of the Albany Town Hall Relaunch Festival

This is a new solo performative artwork by dancer/choreographer Floeur Alder and sculptor/writer, Virginia Ward. It is the evolution of their creative journey through country during the time of Djilba or Emergence.

Throughout the performance, the focus is on the Rainbow Coast, engaging in the landscape of the Albany region, connecting with the historical Indigenous stories of the Menang people, delving into the history of this place and the season of Djilba.

The work was created a month after the passing of Floeur’s father, Alan Alder, who guided and influenced the journey of the solo “to grasp the understanding of looking for them where they are now, not where they were, and how through dance and connecting with nature we can be helped to heal
through grief”.

Choreographer/dancer/producer: Floeur Alder
Artist and Writer: Virginia Ward
Set designer and stage manager: Korin Gath
Costume design: Virginia Ward & Louise Mann

Floeur will be available after the performance to talk about her work and answer questions from the
audience.
