‘SUSTAINABLE FOOD FROM YOUR BACKYARD’.

Wednesday 22 July 12.30pm – 2.30pm 5 week x 2 hours plus Excursion - Cost $80

Presented by Andrew Nicholson a well-known Albany Horticulturalist and TAFE lecturer. (Including Horticulture and Permaculture)

Topics for inclusion:

· Building a great “Backyard system”… including garden infrastructure (chook pens, veggie beds, tanks, shade housing etc.),

· Useful animals in your system, worm farming,

· Plants and herbs for the Albany area,

· Aquaponics set ups and systems,

· Propagation for backyards (cuttings, seed saving and exchange),

· Post-harvest (storage and preserving of Home grown Produce),

· Weed control, irrigation, composting and more.

There will be an opportunity to swap produce, preserves, recipes, plants and books.

EXCURSION: a fabulous field trip to the SR TAFE, GOOD LIFE COMMUNITY GARDEN 106 and for the finish - a visit to Andrew’s home garden for a FORAGE Lunch!
