Deck the Stores to win!
The City of Albany’s Christmas Lights Trail is back this December, lighting up the CBD with festive cheer.
The City is looking for local businesses along the Christmas Lights Trail to get involved and decorate their own shopfronts to encourage residents and visitors alike to spend more time exploring our City centre.
Members of the public are encouraged to visit all of the participating stores and vote for their favourite storefront, with the People’s Choice Winner entitled to an advertising package to the value of $1,000* from the Albany Advertiser!
Nominations to participate are completely free, and you will be sent a QR code poster to print and display directing people to vote for your efforts.
Competition Period
Voting period: Thursday, 1 December 2022 to Monday, 2 January 2023
Businesses are encouraged to display their shopfront throughout the entire voting period to engage the public and for the best chance to win the prize!

Registration Process
Complete the Expression of Interest form here to ensure your business is registered to be voted for.
By entering you are accepting the Terms and Conditions (noted below).
It is free to register and for members of the public to vote.
Prizes
The prize for the People’s Choice Winner - determined by the highest number of votes - will win a $1,000 advertising package supplied by the Albany Advertiser. The winner will be announced in the second week of January 2023. Terms and conditions are as below:
The voucher entitles the recipient to an advertising package to the value of $1000 inclusive of GST.
The voucher can only be used in the Albany Advertiser and or the Extra newspapers at a mutually agreed date.
The voucher cannot be used as part of a current advertising campaign and cannot be used as a credit against an account.
The voucher must be taken prior to June 30 2023 and will expire on that date if unused.

Members of the public who vote for their favourite display can nominate to go in the running for a prize, which will be randomly selected in the second week of January 2023.
Tips and Tricks
- Utilise twinkling lights to make sure your display catches the eyes of people walking past in the evening, as well as the day.
- Make sure your business name is clear and easy to read so they know who to vote for.
- Create a theme or Christmas scene to engage the public.
- Use your own products in the display to encourage people to come in and shop.
- Keep it green – be mindful of the environmental impact of your display and try to reuse decorative items you already have on hand.
Terms and Conditions
- The “Promoter” is City of Albany ABN 94 717 875 167.
- The competition is open to businesses located on York Street, Albany.
- Businesses must register with the Promoter in order to be included in the voting options.
- Businesses are responsible for creating their own window display, and are permitted to advertise their shopfront in order to encourage voting.
- The competition voting period commences 1 December 2022 and closes on 2 January 2023.
- Winners will be announced and contacted during the second week of January 2023.
- The Winner must provide proof of businesses ownership if requested by the Promoter.
- The prizes are not transferrable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash.
- City of Albany Elected Members and staff are ineligible to win.
- The Promoter reserves the right to photograph and/or video-record participants shopfront displays and use the subsequent images for promotional purposes.
