City grants support community groups

City of Albany are accepting applications for a variety of community grants aimed at helping eligible community organisations to bounce back from the impact of COVID-19.

There are four categories of grants with financial support ranging from $1,000 up to $5,000 designed to address the needs of our community and encourage reconnection in the wake of the pandemic.

Connected Neighbourhood grants are aimed at increasing wellbeing and connection by supporting projects that bring people together in the places where they live.

Albany’s community and sporting groups that provide local connection can apply for Strong & Thriving Community Groups grants to enable them to rebound and re-adjust to new operational processes.

Creative Enterprise grants will enable artists to partner with small business in delivering cultural activities where this support for arts practitioners will also foster economic and social recovery.

And a Community Facilities Assistance Fund will provide funding for maintenance works in eligible community facilities.

Mayor of Albany Dennis Wellington said that these funding opportunities are a major step in helping to rebuild the local neighbourhood.

“Albany has done a fantastic job at stopping the spread of COVID-19 by putting the health and safety of each other first, but that has come at a social and economic cost to our local community,” he said.

“We are moving into a recovery phase where our community groups will play a vital role in ensuring that we come out of this with our wellbeing, resilience and positive spirit thriving which is why providing as much support as we can to these groups through this grant funding is such a priority.

“It’s the local legends supporting one another that make Albany such a sought after City to live in, and if we can help them to continue the fantastic work that they do in our community then we will.”

Applications for Connected Neighbourhood, Strong and Thriving Community Groups and Creative Enterprise grants close on the 31 July and Community Facilities Assistance Fund applications close on 28 July.
