Visitors to City of Albany facilities will need to record their name and details at entry as part of the state-wide implementation of mandatory Covid contact registers for venues from this Saturday, December 5.
The State has implemented a QR code and tracing app to make this process as easy as possible, with the aim to help protect residents by quickly identifying potential exposure to Covid-19 if it is detected in the community.
Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre, Albany Public Library, Town Hall, Vancouver Arts Centre, National Anzac Centre, Albany Visitor Centre, Fossickers Tip Shop and the Council Chamber and Civic Room are all required to implement compliant contact registers.
These facilities will provide the QR code for users who have downloaded the app to scan as they enter, and there will be manual sign-in options available too.
Chief Executive Officer Andrew Sharpe said it was important that community comply with the State Government requirements as it was part of the bigger Covid safety strategy as state borders were relaxed ahead of Christmas.
“These new requirements ensure that with our borders opening to other States and Territories, and the ever present risk of Covid, we are protecting ourselves and one another,” he said.
“Our City facilities will be working with community to effectively implement the new SafeWA process so that it is as easy, secure and accessible as it can be for everyone.
“As well as patrons, our staff are required to comply and register their details daily as well.
“These processes will help WA to remain free from community transmission and in the event there is an outbreak, trace and control it before it escalates.”
The SafeWA app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. More information on the app can be found at www.wa.gov.au.
