City of Albany in partnership with WALGA have received nine local primary school submissions to showcase their artwork at Yagan Square in Perth later this year for the #shoWcAse in Pixels exhibit.
shoWcAse in Pixels is an annual exhibition of artwork from Local Governments across the state that are displayed on the 45-metre high tower in the heart of the Perth CBD.
This year students had the option of designing their artwork for one of two categories; Leading the Way or 150 Years of Local Government, with each submission requiring the local government name to be featured in the design.
The City of Albany are eligible to submit only one entry in one competition category of Upper Primary School including years 4 to 6 which will be decided by a panel of judges in early August.
Nine entries have been received, all from Flinders Park Primary School. The school threw their weight behind the initiative to showcase the talent of our local youth.
Mayor of Albany Dennis Wellington said he was impressed with the volume and quality of work that has been submitted.
“The time and effort put into these artwork submissions is incredible, it will certainly be a tough competition to judge,” he said.
“Supporting initiatives like this that support our youth and our schools is an important part of ensuring our young people remain connected to community and can have opportunities for exposure on a large, capital city stage.”
The Vancouver Arts Centre are displaying the finalist entries from 26 July to 6 August 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
The winning entry that will be submitted to the #shoWcAse in Pixels exhibition will be announced on Monday 9 August.
