Nominate your Albany Citizen for 2020

Published on Thursday, 12 September 2019 at 8:58:24 AM

Albany has many, unsung local heroes – people and groups who give themselves to the community in an effort to advance the wellbeing, positivity and lifestyles of those around them.

Their simple acts of kindness, courage, and support through their work, recreation or volunteering underpin Albany’s strong community spirit and make it a better place to live.

The Australia Day Community Citizen of the Year Awards 2020 are a chance to recognise these individuals and organisations for their outstanding contributions.

Whether it be in education, health, charity, business, sport, environment, social inclusion, mental health, social support or volunteering, you can nominate them for an award.

Nominations are now open in the following categories:

  • Citizen of the Year
  •  Citizen of the Year – Youth (under 25 years old)
  •  Citizen of the Year – Senior (over 65 years old)
  •  Award for Active Citizenship – Community Group or Event

City of Albany Chief Executive Officer Andrew Sharpe said the 2020 Citizenship Awards were a way of recognising the incredible work our community does day in and day out to benefit Albany.

“These awards allow us to highlight the work that members of our community are doing in order to give others support and offer a helping hand to those who need it,” he said.

Nominations can be completed online at www.citizenshipawards.com.au/nominate and hard copy nomination forms are available from the City of Albany Administration office.

Community Citizen of the Year Award nominations close Thursday, October 31, with winners being announced at the City of Albany’s Australia Day Celebrations on January 26 next year.
