Nominate your Albany Community Citizen of the Year

Published on Wednesday, 26 August 2020 at 3:34:09 PM

The City of Albany is encouraging people to nominate outstanding individuals, organisations and events for the 2021 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

The awards provide the opportunity to celebrate and reward those who have demonstrated active citizenship and have positively contributed to the enhancement of community life.
They offer the chance to say ‘thank you’ to our local heroes and acknowledge notable contributions, outstanding service or positive social contribution to the Albany community over a number of years.

Nominations officially open on 1 September and close on 31 October 2020.

The Awards comprise four categories:

  • Community Citizen of the Year
  • Senior Community Citizen of the Year (65 years or over)
  • Young Community Citizen of the Year (under 25 years)
  • Active Citizenship Award (community group or event)

City of Albany Chief Executive Officer Andrew Sharpe said that the awards were a way to recognise people who make a significant contribution to building a better community.

“Albany’s strong community spirit is what makes it such a special place to live, and these awards acknowledge those who work tirelessly for the advancement of our city,” Mr Sharpe said.

“Community connection is more important than ever this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic and those who have supported others and kept the community spirit alive deserve to be celebrated.”

Nominations can be completed online or hard copy nomination forms are available from the City of Albany Administration Building on North Road.
