The City of Albany is once again encouraging residents to nominate impressive individuals, organisations and events for the 2022 Community Citizen of the Year Awards.

Albany residents will get the chance to celebrate our local heroes who have shown commitment to community and contributed to the positivity and vibrancy of the city.

Community Citizen of the Year Awards are an acknowledgement of those who consistently give back to community, dedicating their time and effort into providing community support across the board.

Nominations officially open on 1 September and close on 31 October 2021.

The Awards comprise four categories:
• Community Citizen of the Year
• Senior Community Citizen of the Year (65 years or over)
• Young Community Citizen of the Year (under 25 years)
• Active Citizenship Award (community group or event)

Mayor of Albany Dennis Wellington said that the awards were a public recognition of the selfless people within our community.

“It isn’t hard to find individuals and groups within our community that wear their heart on their sleeve and put hours and hours of time into the advancement of our city,” he said.

“With so many worthy members of our community, the challenge is to pick only one at the end.”

Nominations can be completed online at www.citizenshipawards.com.au/nominate/, or hard copy nomination forms are available from the City of Albany Administration Building on North Road.

Visit www.citizenshipawards.com.au/ or contact the Community Development Team on 6820 3023 for more information.

Award recipients will be announced at the City of Albany’s 2022 Australia Day Citizen of the Year Awards on 26 January.
