Summer Reading Club sets the challenge

Published on Friday, 20 November 2020 at 12:34:25 PM

This summer the Albany Public Library will be bringing back the Summer Reading Club challenge for local kids to become engaged with fun literacy based activities over the holiday period.

From 1 December to 31 January, kids can register for the challenge online at no cost where their only commitment is to reading for a total of 10 hours between this timeframe in order to complete the challenge successfully.

Imagine Your Own Adventure is the theme of the Summer Reading Club for 20/21 and encourages young readers to discover new worlds using their imagination and interactive activities available.

Participants need to log their reading time, completed activities, program attendance and to write book reviews to earn digital badges that can be exchanged for prizes including a tablet and vouchers.

Youth Services Librarian Dora Adeline said she is excited to be delivering Summer Reading Club once again.

“This reading challenge is a fantastic way for students to keep building on their literacy skills they have developed across the year in this holiday period and win some great prizes,” she said.

“We understand that the best way to make sure all of the hard work done during the school year continues over the long break is to provide the students with an engaging and stimulating Summer Reading Club.”
