Residents in the City of Albany have the chance to speak for their community by nominating for Council in the 2019 local government elections.
The Kalgan, Vancouver, Frederickstown, Breaksea, West and Yakamia wards each have a Councillor vacancy to fill this election, with the role of Mayor also open for nominations.
Nominations will open on Thursday, September 5 and community members from all walks-of-life are invited to put their name forward and make a difference in Albany.
City of Albany Chief Executive Officer Andrew Sharpe said each vacancy was for a four-year term and anyone wanting to contribute positively to their community should consider this exciting opportunity.
“Our Council is very passionate about our community and making it a better place so this is an opportunity to get involved and join a strong team of leaders working together to deliver great outcomes for Albany,” he said.
The City has developed a comprehensive induction program to help newly elected members transition into the role and get the most out of their time on Council.
