Fuel Reduction Burns

Published: Monday, 24 June 2019 at 11:07:05 PM

The City of Albany and the Volunteer Bush Fire Brigades will be carrying out a number of Fuel Reduction Burns this coming autumn 2019.

Fuel Reduction Burns will be undertaken when conditions are suitable for low intensity burns to be conducted.

Maps of the prescribed burning locations will be available at the City of Albany website www.albany.wa.gov.au.

The City of Albany uses Fuel Reduction Burns to reduce fuel loads to assist in reducing bushfire risk to our communities whilst maintaining the biodiversity of the wide range of ecosystems in the City of Albany Reserves.

The City of Albany will be monitoring the forecast weather conditions to select the most appropriate conditions to undertake fuel reduction activities. The City liaises closely with DFES and other Emergency Service organisations to assess suitable conditions. Prescribed burns are announced on the ABC Great Southern Radio (ABC630 AM) prior to burning, and advice posted on the Emergency WA website.

Please direct enquiries to Darren Little Fire Liaison Officer at the City of Albany on 6820 3958 during business hours.
