Roadworks - CBD Cycle Links

Published: Monday, 11 May 2020 at 10:39:28 AM

As part of the City’s 2019/2020 capital works programme, the City will be constructing a cycle path on the eastern side of Aberdeen Street, between St Emilie Way and Frederick Street, and on the southern side of Grey Street West, between York Street and Collie Street.

 The current scope includes:

  •  Installation of revised pavement markings (including parking bays);
  • Construction of new concrete kerb and driveway crossovers;
  • Construction of 2.5 metre wide asphalt path; and
  • Construction of flush kerb nib and splitter islands.

Works are expected to commence mid-April 2020, with completion by the end of May 2020, weather permitting.

The City understands that on-street parking is an important factor to be managed during the construction process. The construction programme has been formulated to minimise the amount of parking bays out of service on any given day.

The City’s Site supervisor will liaise with businesses on a daily basis to provide them with regular updates about access to adjacent premises and any restrictions on the use of on-street parking.

The City will endeavour to keep these and any other disruptions to a minimum and and would appreciate your co-operation in working with on-site staff.

Please be aware that contractors are required to adhere to the Department of Health guidelines and that delays may occur in the construction timeline due to COVID-19. The City is committed to supporting local businesses during this challenging time.

Enquiries should be directed to Roger Cations, Team Leader – Civil Infrastructure, on 6820 3975 during business hours.
