Waste Education and Events

Here are some of the great resources and tools you can access to find out more and do your bit to help us maximise recycling, reduce waste to landfill and keep Albany clean and green.

1. Download the City of Albany phone app

Use the app for the answers to your questions about when to put your bin out, what can and can't be recycled, where to take your rubbish and how much it will cost. You can also receive reminders to put your bin out, helpful tips and report any problems you see around Albany with one click. Download HERE

2. Keep and check your calendar

Can't access our phone app? No problems! We produce an annual Community Calendar and Waste & Recycling Guide which will tell you what bin to put out when and what you can and can't recycle. We usually distribute these in December each year. Give us a call or visit our Office on North Road to pick up a copy or download here.

3. Visit Fossicker's Tip Shop

Chasing something for the house or garden? Chances are we have a preloved and unique treasure waiting at Fossicker's Shop just for you. We have a massive range of second hand items as well as recycled art and displays for inspiration to reuse and upcycle. So instead of buying new pop in and see us at Hanrahan Road Waste Facility. Open 7 Days a week from 8.30am to 4.15pm. Fossicker’s Shop - Where someone's old becomes someone's new!

5. Come and see your recycling in action

We welcome residents and visitors to take a tour of the Materials Recovery Facility – the factory where your recycling is sorted, processed and sent for recycling. We run these tours in partnership with Cleanaway and any groups are welcome – schools, TAFE, associations.
