Nominations open for Albany Sportsperson of the Year

The Albany Sportsperson of the Year Awards is returning in 2024 to highlight and honour the outstanding accomplishments and dedication of our enthusiastic local sporting champions.

These prestigious awards are set to make a triumphant return after a hiatus since 2020 due to the impact of the Covid pandemic, and will recognise and honour athletes of all ages who have excelled in their respective fields over 2023.

Nominations are open now with the opportunity for the community to put forward athletes who have shown exceptional dedication and passion in their sporting pursuits.

  • The awards program includes:
    Albany Sportsperson of the Year
    Junior Sportsperson of the Year;
    Senior Sportsperson of the Year; and,
    Veteran Sportsperson of the Year.

From promising young talents to seasoned veterans who continue to inspire, the Albany Sportsperson of the Year Awards will highlight the spectrum of achievement in our sporting community.

Executive Director Community Services Nathan Watson said it was a welcome return for the awards.

“The awards have held an important place in recognising the excellence of our local athletes in a wide variety of sports,” he said.

“We are thrilled to be bringing this event back to celebrate their accomplishments and dedication to the advancement of sport within the region.

“We look forward to receiving nominations from a wide variety of backgrounds so we can honour the performances and achievements of Albany’s diverse athletes.”

Nominations close on Friday, 15 December 2023 with the Albany Sportsperson of the Year Awards to be held on Thursday, 15 February 2024.
