Albany Public Library has expanded its offering for students, launching an After Hours Study Space that supports Albany’s academic community.
In a direct response to community feedback, the City of Albany undertook 18-months of extensive renovations to create a safe place for students to meet and study after-hours.
The new space provides registered library members who are students uninterrupted access to the Library’s free Wi-Fi, public internet computers and printing whilst in a secured environment.
Located near student accommodation and positioned in the heart of the City, the Study Space has easy access and is open to anyone who is studying, including Years 11, 12 and TAFE students.
City of Albany Manager Arts and Culture Paul Nielsen said he was excited to see local students enjoying the space.
“Albany Public Library’s new an After Hours Study Space is an excellent addition to the City’s service offering that gives students of all ages more options, opportunities and capacity for education,” he said.
“Lack of access to facilities and resources outside of normal business hours can present a barrier to learning which can be avoided.
“By providing this innovative solution, Albany’s students can now utilise part of the Library at all hours while in a safe, comfortable study environment.”
To be eligible for access, students must be registered library members, provide proof they are a student and attend an induction session.
Students under 18 must provide written permission from a parent/guardian.
