Electric Vehicles in the City of Albany

There are currently 11 Electric Vehicle (EV) charging points operating throughout the City.

Three of these are available to the public and include:

  • Albany Public Library Tesla Destination Charger
  • McDonalds Orana
  • The Sandalwood Factory

The remaining eight chargers are privately owned by businesses and accommodation providers for customer use.

WA EV Network

The City of Albany is working with Synergy to install EV fast charging stations in Albany as part of the State Government’s EV Strategy to provide an ‘EV Network’ of fast chargers across the state.

WA EV Network will be fully operational by 2024, however Albany will have chargers installed in the first half of 2023.

Two 150kW DC fast chargers will be installed, allowing up to four cars to charge at once.

Payment will be simple and allow people to use a credit card, a RFID card or an app.

The location for the chargers is the area adjacent to the Old Gaol, on the corner of Festing Street and Residency Road. The development of this carpark site has been recently completed by the City of Albany prior to the installation of the charging stations by Synergy.

This carpark will maintain regular (non-EV) parking bays, in addition to those designated for the EV charging bays.

As more EV charging stations are installed in Albany, more information will become available on the City’s website and at https://www.plugshare.com
