Flickerfest 30th International Short Film Festival Tour

Past Event

Featuring as part of the Albany Town Hall Relaunch Festival

Celebrating its 30th year in 2021 Flickerfest remains Australia’s leading Academy® Qualifying and BAFTA Recognised short film festival, ensuring that we continue to present A-list short film programmes recognised amongst the best in the world with films hand-picked from the festival’s record 2,700 entries from the festival held over 10 days in Bondi in late January. Flickerfest, Australia’s largest Short Film Festival, is excited to be presenting its much loved programmes at the Albany Town Hall showcasing the Best of International Shorts and FlickerKids Shorts for shorties family programme, both chosen from festival favourites to delight Albany audiences.

The programmes present a selection of entertaining, inspiring and award-winning films, giving Albany Flickerfest audiences the first look at the hottest shorts in the world today.

Highlights from the FlickerKids Shorts on Sunday 11th April at 2pm includes the fun and entertaining ‘Dust Cloud’ about a naughty cattle dog who finally gets his act together, the fast paced and super engaging ‘Desert Racers’ where a hodgepodge group of characters compete in an annual desert race and the Oscar shortlisted ‘To Gerard’ from Pixar Animation about a sprightly elderly gentleman who brightens the day of a little girl through magic.

On Sunday the 11th of April at 7pm the Best of International Shorts programme features the hilarious and quirky ‘David’ fresh from its Australian Premiere at Flickerfest Bondi, starring comedy legend Will Ferrell, which had its world premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival, the amazingly psychedelic and insightful animation, ‘Normal’ from France which won best international animation at Flickerfest ‘The Present’ from Palestine winner of Best International Short film at Flickerfest and currently shortlisted for an Academy Award and oozing bucket-loads of heart and a feisty leading lady, the super delightful Frankie Jean & The Morning Star’ from New Zealand.
