Please join us for BUSINESS BASICS 2 our third instalment of The Business Side of Arts workshops at the Vancouver Arts Centre on Thursday 17 August from 5.30pm - 7.30pm. Registrations essential.
Business Basics 2 - How’s your backend?
Everything from invoicing and banking to the value of your time, including:
- Working out commissions and GST on art sales
- Superannuation
- What tax deductions can you claim as an artist/ professional artist?
- How does prize money affect your tax?
- Business forms - how to create quotes and tax invoices
- Contract and legal issues
Workshop presented by Albany Business Centre’s Erin Quartermaine. Erin has been with the Albany Business Centre for 2 years and assists with bookkeeping and backend systems advice as part of the Business Local program. Previously she was an accountant/bookkeeper for Rio Tinto for 10+ years.
Each Business Basics workshop includes a FREE 1-to-1 session with Albany Business Centre staff for attendees who would like to access advice specific to their individual requirements.
The Business Side of Arts is a series of professional development workshops designed to equip local artists and creatives with the business, marketing and practical skills required to support their success as an arts practitioner. Workshops will be delivered by Albany Business Centre, local specialist arts practitioners and City of Albany Arts & Culture team staff.
