Christmas Festival & Pageant Santa Claus Expression of Interest

 Do you hear jingle bells in your sleep? Is your laugh loud, jolly, and contagious? Do you secretly love gingerbread and being the centre of festive attention? If yes — we’ve got the perfect gig for you!

We’re on the lookout for someone to step into the big red suit and take on the iconic role of Santa Claus at this year’s City of Albany Christmas Festival & Pageant.

 Job Description:
  • Being the star of the Santa photo experience – full of festive cheer and warm smiles.
  • Riding the sleigh in the Pageant along York Street – waving like royalty and soaking in the joy.
  • Spreading Christmas cheer to kids and adults alike – ho-ho-ho’s required!
  • Creating magical moments and unforgettable memories for local families.

 Event Details:
📅 Saturday, 6 December 2025
🕒 Festival: 3:00pm – 6:00pm | Pageant: 6:00pm – 7:00pm | Festival continues until 8pm
📍 Town Square & Alison Hartman Gardens, York Street, Albany

Please Note: To be eligible for this role, you must have or be willing to obtain a valid Working with Children Check and Public Liability Insurance.

Terms and Conditions

1. Working with Children Check (WWCC)

You must hold a current and valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one before the event date.

A copy of your WWCC must be provided prior to engagement in the role.

2. Availability

You must be available on Saturday, 6 December 2025, during the event times:

Festival: 3:00pm – 6:00pm

Pageant: 6:00pm – 7:30pm

Additional time may be required for costume fitting and event preparation.

3. Behaviour & Conduct

You are expected to behave in a professional, friendly, and family-appropriate manner at all times.

You must be comfortable engaging with children and families and represent the spirit of Santa Claus in a warm, inclusive, and respectful way.

4. Costume & Appearance

The Santa costume will be provided. You must wear the full costume, including wig, beard, gloves, and accessories, for the duration of your appearance.

You must take reasonable care of the costume and return it in good condition.

Personal grooming must align with the role (e.g. no visible tattoos or piercings that detract from Santa’s image).

5. Photography & Media

You may be photographed or filmed during the event.

By participating, you consent to the use of your image for promotional purposes by the City of Albany, unless you request otherwise in writing prior to the event.

6. Health & Safety

You must inform the Events Team of any medical conditions or limitations that may affect your ability to perform the role safely (e.g. sitting for extended periods, walking in the parade, working in warm weather).

You must follow all safety instructions provided by event staff.

7. Payment

This is a paid position. Rate of pay and payment details will be confirmed upon selection and engagement.

You will be required to complete a contractor agreement, depending on your engagement status.

8. Selection Process

Submission of an EOI does not guarantee selection.

The City of Albany reserves the right to shortlist and select the most suitable applicant based on availability, experience, and alignment with the role.

9. Confidentiality & Representation

You agree not to disclose any confidential event details or speak to the media on behalf of the City of Albany unless authorised.

While in costume, you are representing the City of Albany and should act in a way that reflects the organisation’s values.
