Animal Welfare
Concern for animal welfare – both pet, livestock and wildlife
If you (including veterinary services) suspect the mistreatment of any animal, and you are concerned for the animal’s welfare, whether domestic dogs and cats, livestock or native wildlife please notify the Royal Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA).
The RSPCA’s member Societies in each state and territory operate animal rehoming centres, investigate and prosecute animal cruelty complaints, advocate to improve the lives of animals, and educate the community on animal welfare and responsible pet ownership.
RSPCA member Societies enforce state and territory animal welfare legislation through their Inspectorate functions.
Where incidences of animal cruelty or animal welfare concerns are reported, Inspectors have the power to investigate and prosecute those involved.
If you have witnessed animal cruelty, including neglect or abandonment, you should report it via phone or online form to the RSPCA Inspectorate team in the state or territory it took place.
