The City is very pleased to announce that the community are now able to view and comment on the draft Mounts Master Plan document.

The draft Mounts Master Plan aims to provide a strategic plan for management of the precinct while respecting the significant natural, cultural and recreational assets valued by the entire community.

The draft Master Plan aims to establish an overarching framework, identify strategies, key projects and initiatives to inform decision-making that will guide sustainable investment and management over time.

Multiple elements make up the draft Master Plan including an iconic trails network, enhancement and connection of key assets and places, proposal for WA’s first regional botanic garden, sustainable management and places for visitors to learn, discover and play.

City of Albany Chief Executive Officer Andrew Sharpe identifies the Mounts as one of Albany’s most precious and well-loved natural assets.

“The draft Master Plan document reflects the feedback and ideas from past engagement with the community and key stakeholders,” he said.

“The Mounts hold natural, cultural and historic significance not only for the local community but also on a national scale.

“So it is essential we not only conserve the elements that make it unique, but also identify the opportunity to enhance key assets and provide added experiences that satisfy user demand.”

Community can view the Mounts Master Plan and provide important feedback at the City of Albany website until mid-February 2021.
