Following the success of Albany’s inaugural Live @ the Town Hall in June, the second instalment of the live music weekend comes to the Town Hall next month.

Taking place on August 5-6, the Albany Town Hall will be transformed into a jazz enthusiasts dream with four different jazz musicians all taking to the stage across the two days.

On Friday, August 5 Jazztrix Quartet – Miles Davis Tribute will entertain patrons with tunes from one of the most loved jazz albums – Kind of Blue – together with other well-known tracks from the Miles Davis repertoire.

Jazztrix Quartet have opened for acts such as Carole King, James Taylor, Diana Krall, James Morrison, Chris Isaaks and Paul Kelly.

Daniel Susnjar Jazz Quartet also perform on Friday evening weaving dynamic textures through emotive and original compositions.

Daniel Susnjar has performed with music legends including Chick Corea, Bobby McFerrin, Steve Miller, Terence Blanchard, Hank Marvin, Arturo Sandoval, Alex Acuña and Dave Grusin.

Saturday, August 6 it will be another night of big band jazz performances with Rainbow Coast Big Band featuring Bluebirds kicking off the evening.

They promise to have toes tapping as they present a selection of classic swing tunes and tribute songs to give dancing shoes a workout.

Daniel Susnjar and the Afro-Peruvian Jazz Group will be rounding out the Saturday evening. The seven-piece ensemble present original compositions influenced by Afro-Peruvian rhythms, and fresh, unique arrangements of traditional Peruvian folk songs.

Manager Arts and Culture Paul Nielsen said Live @ the Town Hall is proving to be a hit for the entire community.

“This is such a versatile event where we have the ability to showcase genres, groups, styles and cultures through each Live @ the Town Hall series,” he said.

“Jazz music has a special place in many of our hearts so we expect a huge turnout for a marvellous weekend of big band, jazz and dancing.”
