The City of Albany was successful in gaining a grant from Injury Matters through their Improve Your Health program (roughly $3,500).
Improve Your Health is one part of the Move Improve Remove messaging used to encourage older adults to stay active, independent, and prevent falls.
Focussing on three main areas, Check Your Medicines; Keep A Healthy Mind; and Fuel Your Body, the program sees the City of Albany partner with Albany Community Care Centre, Age Well Albany, The Albany Over 50s Club, and the WA Country Health Service to deliver a series of events for seniors from managing your medicines workshop and falls prevention sessions, cooking and nutrition classes, through to an introduction to Mahjong and Grand Canasta to help keep both you body and mind in good health.
