Weed Spraying on City Path Network

Published on Thursday, 2 October 2025 at 1:53:24 PM

The City of Albany advises that a licensed contractor will be carrying out weed spraying along sections of the path network across the City over the coming weeks.

Weed control is an important part of maintaining our shared paths and walkways. Spraying is undertaken to:

  • Maintain safe access for pedestrians, cyclists, and mobility aids by reducing trip hazards caused by weeds lifting or cracking path surfaces.
  • Prevent damage to infrastructure, as weeds and invasive plants can break down paving and asphalt over time.
  • Support good drainage, as weeds can block edges and encourage water pooling on paths.
  • Reduce the spread of invasive weed species into surrounding reserves and natural areas.
  • Maintain the overall appearance and usability of public spaces.

All works are carried out by qualified contractors in accordance with safety and environmental regulations.

We thank the community for their understanding while this important maintenance work is undertaken.

Please note that planned weed spraying works on the path network may be delayed or extended due to adverse weather conditions.
