City of Albany Community Scorecard

Every two years, the City of Albany conducts a MARKYT® Community Scorecard to understand how residents feel about the City’s performance in delivering on the commitments set out in our Corporate Business Plan.

Delivered in partnership with independent survey specialists CATALYSE®, the scorecard invites community feedback on what the City is doing well and where improvements can be made. This input helps guide future priorities and provides valuable benchmarks across a range of City services.

The latest surveys are provided below.

2025 Albany Community Scorecard

The most recent scorecard was undertaken in March 2025, and results show Albany continues to perform strongly as a place to live, work and visit, with upward trends across key service areas.

More than 2,500 residents took part—our highest response rate to date.

Key results include:

  • 81 out of 100 rating for Albany as a place to live — well above the industry average.

  • Overall performance index increased to 68, placing Albany sixth among regional councils and five points above the industry average.

  • Community engagement and communication, local roads, ranger services, and Council leadership were the biggest improvers.

  • Continued strong performance in library services, sport and recreation facilities, and destination marketing.

  • Albany remains an industry leader in Reconciliation Action.

The survey also identified the community’s top long-term priorities:

  • Housing

  • Healthcare access

  • Economic development and job creation

  • Local roads and bridges

  • Footpaths, trails and cycleways

The City is considering these results in the development of its 2024–25 Budget, ensuring spending is aligned with community expectations.
