EMU POINT WESTERN BEACH DOG EXERCISE AREA (Closed)

In November 2018, Council adopted the City’s Dog Exercise, Prohibited and Rural Leashing Policy. Public comment was sought and received prior to adoption. The Policy designates 15 dog exercise areas across the city, one of which is the Emu Point Western Swimming Beach (Area 14 on Brochure). Dogs may be exercised unleashed in designated dog exercise areas as long as the person in control of the dog has a leash (less than 2 m long) and is capable of restraining the dog. Whilst many people are enjoying the opportunity to exercise their dogs at this beach, other members of the community have raised concerns with the City about this arrangement. As a result, Council has decided to seek further public comment on the inclusion of this beach as a dog exercise area.
Public comment is open until 5 pm Friday 17th April 2020.
