Albany is preparing to welcome a series of cruise liners this summer, bringing international visitors and an economic boost for local businesses.
Cruise travellers will soon be disembarking to explore Albany’s heritage, coastline and attractions, with upcoming arrivals including the Silver Nova on November 17, the Silver Moon on November 23, the Riviera on December 1, the Norwegian Spirit on December 11, and the Viking Orion on January 21, 2026.
To make the most of the season, the City of Albany will launch the Boatshed Cruise Hub Experience at the Albany Boatshed, showcasing the region’s food, wine, art and local produce for visiting passengers. The Hub will operate on selected cruise days, offering a relaxed waterfront welcome that connects visitors with local operators and small businesses.
Mayor Greg Stocks said the cruise schedule was a positive sign for local tourism operators and businesses.
“This collection of arrivals, including some of the world’s premium cruise lines, underscores Albany’s growing status on the cruising map,” he said.
“Each ship arrival brings visitors who spend money in our cafés, shops and tour experiences, but just as importantly, they take home stories about Albany that inspire others to visit.
“Cruise tourism has become an important part of our visitor economy and helps strengthen jobs and investment across the city.”
The cruise sector generated about $385 million in economic value across Western Australia in 2023–24, with Albany’s contribution estimated at $6.5 million in 2024–25, supporting around 20 full-time equivalent jobs.
Cruise visits also bring added vibrancy to the waterfront, creating opportunities for local vendors, volunteers and residents to share in welcoming passengers to the region.
Ships arriving in November, December and into early 2026 will provide additional opportunities for local operators beyond the traditional peak tourism window.
