Young people will take centre stage this April as the City of Albany hosts a vibrant, colourful, youth-led celebration for Youth Week.

Taking place on Saturday 11 April at Youth Challenge Park and the Multi-Purpose Field on Sanford Road, the event has been designed by young people, for young people.

Supported by Department of Communities and Rio Tinto and delivered in partnership with the Albany Youth Advisory Council, the festival will showcase the creativity and energy of Albany’s youth.

The event promises something for everyone, with a program of activities and entertainment throughout the day and a free sausage sizzle keeping attendees fuelled for fun.

Attendees can explore youth markets, enjoy live performances from Southern Edge Arts, experience the excitement of an inflatable dodgeball arena and jump into a basketball activity.

A highlight of the day will be the popular colour run from 2pm, returning with all the colour and excitement that makes it a favourite among 10 to 25 year olds. Participants must register at https://albany-events.bookable.net.au/#!/event-detail/ev_7904880688e9465ca70b6201583a143b

The skatepark competition is also set to draw a crowd, offering participants of all ages the chance to showcase their skills, compete for prizes, and connect with fellow enthusiasts from 10am until 5pm. Registration is essential at https://liveheats.com/events/483663

Executive Director Community Services Nathan Watson said Youth Week was an important opportunity to celebrate the role young people play in shaping the future of Albany, particularly as part of the City’s Albany 2026 commemorations.

“Events like Youth Week give our young people a platform to express themselves, connect with their peers and showcase their talents, while also highlighting the valuable contribution they make to our community,” Mr Watson said.

“As part of Albany 2026, Youth Week offers a chance for the wider community to come together, strengthen connections and recognise the energy, creativity and leadership of our youth.”

Community members are encouraged to come along, support local young people and enjoy the lively atmosphere, whether participating or cheering from the sidelines.
