The City of Albany is inviting the community to come together for a vibrant celebration of sustainability at the annual Green Fair on the Square, returning to Albany Town Square on Saturday 9 May 2026.

Running from 9am to 1pm as part of the WA Tree Festival, the free, family-friendly event will showcase practical ways residents can live more sustainably while enjoying a lively program of activities, workshops and entertainment.

Attendees can enjoy a wide range of hands-on experiences and activities, including nature crafts and kids’ activities, upcycled lantern making, giant lawn games, and interactive performances from the Eco Faeries.

A clothing swap and pre-loved book sale will promote reuse and waste reduction, while guest speakers and a dedicated recycling and re-use information hub will provide valuable insights into sustainable living.

Residents are encouraged to ride their bikes to the event, with a free coffee on offer as a reward, and the chance to win a load of compost.

Free tree seedings will be available on the day, along with a seed planting activity for children, encouraging locals to enhance their backyard biodiversity.

Co-funded by Water Corporation’s Waterwise Greening Scheme, the initiative supports the City of Albany’s goal of becoming a leading waterwise community.

Coordinator Waste and Sustainability Julie Passmore said the event is an opportunity to inspire practical action at a local level.

“Green Fair on the Square is about making sustainability accessible and achievable for everyone,” Mrs Passmore said.

“It’s a chance for our community to come together, learn new skills, and discover simple changes that can make a real difference for our environment.”

Green Fair on the Square continues to grow each year, reinforcing Albany’s commitment to environmental stewardship and community connection.
