The 2025 Seniors Expo will bring together more than 30 local organisations, clubs, and service providers to showcase the opportunities and support available for older people living in the Great
Southern.

Held at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre on Tuesday, November 11 from 10am to 2pm, the free event is designed to connect residents with health, lifestyle, and community services while encouraging social connection and active living.

An introduction to line dancing hosted by the Albany Over 50s Club will start the day from 9am, before the official opening at 10am.

The program will include information sessions on the new Aged Care Act, mobility equipment demonstrations, and introductory Pickleball sessions, with a minute of silence held at 11am to mark Remembrance Day.

Manager Community Relations Elise van Gorp said the Seniors Expo is an important opportunity for people to explore the wide range of services and activities available locally.

“The Seniors Expo is about connection, choice, and community,” she said. “It is a chance for residents to discover new ways to stay active, engaged, and supported, whether that is through volunteering, sport, or local care services.

“This is the first time we have hosted the Seniors Expo since 2009, and I hope to see it return as a regular event to Albany’s calendar, as it offers so much to our senior population.”

Clarence Estate and Mindspot GP are this year’s major sponsors, supporting the event alongside Amity Health and Albany & Regional Volunteer Service, which play a vital role in promoting community wellbeing, connection, and volunteer participation across the region.

A Clarence Estate spokesperson said the Expo reflects their values of community connection and independence.

“At Clarence Estate, we believe ageing well is about staying connected and continuing to live life on your own terms,” they said.

“We’re proud to support an event that celebrates the diversity and vitality of older people in our region and encourages everyone to explore the support and opportunities available to them.”

MindSpot GP Senior Relationship Manager Anthea Hodgson said the event is a valuable platform for raising awareness about free psychological support available across the Great Southern.

“MindSpot GP offers accessible, confidential mental health care for people who might be feeling anxious, stressed, or struggling with change,” she said.

“We’re pleased to be part of the Seniors Expo to share information about our free, digital support options that can be accessed from home, with no referral cost or waiting list.”

Community members are invited to drop in at any time during the event to enjoy free tea, coffee, and snacks, browse exhibitor stalls, and chat with service providers.
