Albany schools, students, community groups and artists have a unique opportunity to have their artwork displayed at Yagan Square in Perth as part of the 2025 Showcase in Pixels exhibition hosted by WALGA.

The 2025 theme is “Design our Future” inviting creative responses about how the world might evolve in years to come.

Artwork may include mixed media, digital art, paintings, sculptures, or any form of visual art that aligns with the theme.

Artwork can be submitted through six categories:

•  Junior Primary School(s) up to year 3
•  Upper Primary School(s) up to year 6
•  Secondary School(s) up to year 12
•  Community Group(s)
•  Non-Professional Individuals
•  Professional Individuals

Executive Director Community Services Nathan Watson said the exhibition is a chance for Albany’s creative community to shine and to build on last year’s success.

“Showcase in Pixels gives creatives of all ages a platform to share big ideas in accessible, uplifting ways,” he said.

“Last year the City of Albany was recognised in the professional artist category with Nicci Daniele’s ‘Marlu Tidda (Kangaroo Sister),’ a work created in honour of a local wildlife carer.

“Stories like this show how art can celebrate the people and places that shape our community.”

Each submission to WALGA’s Showcase in Pixels, including artwork, must be submitted by the City of Albany on behalf of the artist. Submissions must be accompanied by a summary to provide an explanation of the artwork and how it relates to the theme in order to be considered.

WALGA will judge the submissions, and the winning pieces in each category will be displayed in Yagan Square.

Entries to Showcase in Pixels must be submitted to the City of Albany by emailing a high‑quality digital image of the artwork to [email protected] before 5pm on 26 September 2025.
