City of Albany Climate Change Declaration

City of Albany are continuing to be a clean, green and sustainable city with the Council endorsing a revised City of Albany Climate Change Declaration at the December 2023 Ordinary Council Meeting.

The City have been leaders in sustainable climate conscious initiatives since 2014 when their Carbon Footprint Reduction Strategy was adopted to so that potential climate change impacts were mitigated.

Council have committed to six actions in the declaration including developing a tool to measure and report on corporate and community greenhouse emissions, developing a Roadmap to Net Zero targeting 2050 and continued engagement with the Youth Advisory Council (YAC) and thew wider community on climate change actions. 

The first City of Albany Climate Change Declaration was adopted by Council in October 2020 following a petition to Council by the Youth Advisory Council with one-thousand signatures advocating for the declaration to be created and adopted.
