The City of Albany is bringing a touch of the North Pole to the Great Southern this year, with the 2025 Christmas Festival and Pageant set to transform the heart of the city into a winter wonderland on Saturday, December 6.
Held across Albany Town Square and Alison Hartman Gardens from 3pm to 8pm, the free family-friendly event promises an afternoon of festive cheer and wintery magic.
This year’s festival will be headlined by a 50m² snow pit, where children can build snowmen, make snow angels and enjoy imaginative free play, while bringing the winter wonderland theme to life.
Returning favourites include the ever-popular Snow Zone beneath the Albany Public Library balcony, with snow flurries falling every 15 minutes.
The Christmas Markets and Youth Markets will offer a range of festive gifts and local wares, while creative minds can get hands-on at the Albany Art Workshops to make their own Christmas snow globe.
Santa’s photobooth, delivered in partnership with Ace Camera Club, will offer free festive family photos, and there will be cookie decorating, face painting, food vendors and live entertainment on the Town Square Stage throughout the afternoon.
At 6pm, the magic continues with the much-loved Christmas Pageant as it parades its way up York Street in a dazzling display of community spirit and festive joy.
Manager Community Relations Elise van Gorp said the event was one of the highlights of the City’s events calendar.
“This year’s winter wonderland theme will add a special touch of Christmas magic and we’re so excited to see families embrace the festive spirit,” she said.
“It’s a chance for our community to come together, support local creatives and stallholders, and make lasting memories.”
