Twilight markets, a dog’s day out, emergency services fun day, a popular outdoor movie and a ninja warrior course will be part of the City’s Middleton Beach Festival presented by LiveLighter this month.

This year’s festival runs from 22nd-26th January with a temporary location change to Eyre Park for this year while works to enhance the Middleton Beach foreshore are underway.

To comply with current Covid safety requirements, the City will have Covid marshals, hand sanitiser, SafeWA QR code entry points and social distancing reminders to help keep the community safe.

The festival will kick off on Friday, 22nd January with the Twilight Markets at Eyre Park followed by the popular Midds Mutts Markets on Saturday, 23rd January with dog-inspired stalls, food, music and more.

An Emergency Services Fun Day will be on Sunday, 24th January before the locally filmed ‘H is for Happiness’ is played under the stars for the Sunset Sets & Outdoor Movie on Monday, 25th January.

Rounding out the Festival on Tuesday will be an Australia Day to remember with a ninja obstacle course, dodgeball arena, caricature artist, live music and performances.

Albany Mayor Dennis Wellington said he was looking forward to community enjoying the local talent and entertainment at the Festival.

“We’ve been running this Festival for a number of years now and it is always popular, so it’s great to have the support of our local entertainers, musicians, small businesses and emergency services this year,” he said.

“We hope everyone will come along and enjoy the Festival, but it is also important we all engage with the event safely and follows the Covid safety requirements.”

The Citizenship Ceremony and Awards are also being held at Albany Entertainment Centre from 10am on 26th January to welcome our new citizens and recognise the achievements of the 24 residents and groups who are in the running to win a Citizen of the Year Award.

Tickets for the Citizenship Ceremony and Awards are essential due to Covid restrictions and are available from the Entertainment Centre until sold out, as no tickets will be available at the door.

The Middleton Beach Festival is supported by LiveLighter, Healthway, Lotterywest, Southern Ports Authority, Development WA, National Australia Day Council, Rio Tinto and Road Safety Commission.
