City funding supports community events

Major regional events and local community events are able to apply for new funding rounds from the City of Albany this month to encourage community recovery and social connectivity.

The opening of the Regional Events Sponsorship and Community Event Grants will contribute to the overall recovery of our community from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Regional Events Sponsorship funding supports the activation and attraction of major regional events that deliver economic benefit for the region, with grants of up to $20,000 available.

The City is also offering Community Event Grants of up to $5,000 across two rounds to support grassroots events that demonstrate innovation, engagement, sustainability and growth.

City of Albany Acting Executive Director Community Services Nathan Watson said the grants were timely and assist the community to hold events again.
“Events have a positive impact on our economy, they encourage and support social connection, and they build a sense of community pride in our civic spaces,” he said.

“The easing of Covid-19 restrictions is allowing events to restart, so we’re pleased to be offering these grants and hope they will support successful and vibrant events in our community again.”

Regional Event Sponsorship Grants are open now and will close on 7 August 2020 with a funding pool of $80,000 for events held between 1 December 2020 and 30 June 2021.

Community Event Grants will be open across two rounds, the first is open from now until 7 August 2020 with event delivery to fall between 1 October 2020 and 28 February 2021.

The second round will open 16 November 2020 to 7 December 2020 with event delivery to fall between 1 March 2021 and 30 June 2021.
Each round of Community Events Grants has a funding pool of $15,000.

Guidelines, eligibility criteria and applications for both funding streams can be found at www.albany.wa.gov.au.
