City calendar delivers fundraising opportunity

The Covid-19 pandemic has left local community groups with limited opportunities to fundraise, so the City of Albany are offering a unique way for these groups to bring in some much needed income.

Albany’s Community Calendar is a valued resource in many households, taking pride of place on fridges and walls across Albany and this year our community groups can help to ensure no one misses out.

As part of the City’s community recovery efforts, clubs and community groups have the opportunity to deliver the Community Calendar to households to raise funds for their group.

Seven community groups will be required to tackle as many residential zones across Albany, delivering roughly 1000 calendars to each zone in time for the start of 2021.

Acting Executive Director Community Services Nathan Watson said the project was one of the innovative ways the City was adapting its business to support community through the pandemic.

“The calendar is very popular in our community and this year we are giving local clubs and organisations an opportunity to be involved in its delivery and in return for that service we can provide some much-needed financial support to them,” Mr Watson said.

“As we continue to emerge from this public health emergency it is more important than ever that there are safe social outlets for people to reconnect and our community groups and organisations play a crucial role in providing this, but they need support too and we hope this initiative will help.”

Clubs and groups can register their interest online here or pick up a hard copy from the City of Albany North Road Administration Offices.
