The City of Albany has adopted its 2026–27 Annual Budget, delivering investment in essential infrastructure, community facilities and long-term strategic projects that will support Albany's continued growth and prosperity.
Developed to align with the recently adopted Council Plan, the Budget represents a new chapter in the City's long-term strategic planning, bringing together the community's aspirations with an accountable program of delivery.
Mayor of Albany Greg Stocks said the Budget reflected Council's commitment to investing in the projects that matter most to the community while preparing Albany for future growth.
"This Budget strikes an important balance between delivering the services and infrastructure our community relies on today while making strategic investments that will benefit future generations," Mayor Stocks said.
"With significant investment in transport infrastructure, community facilities, waste planning and major grant-funded projects, we're continuing to build a strong, connected and liveable Albany."
A significant feature of this year's Budget is more than $47 million in external grant funding, enabling the delivery of transformative projects that will benefit the community for generations.
These include the Albany Artificial Fishing Reef, Gladville Structure Plan, Albany Regional Tennis Centre Stage 2 and the Albany Botanical Link Walkway, a project that will strengthen connections between the city centre and Albany Heritage Park while enhancing the visitor experience.
The Budget also includes $15.6 million for road network renewal and upgrades, ensuring transport infrastructure remains safe, reliable and fit for purpose.
Significant investments include a $44 million Airport Major Runway Upgrade to strengthen Albany Regional Airport's long-term capability and $3.2 million to support the future of Albany’s waste landfill.
Council has also allocated $1 million to the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre Reserve, recognising the importance of planning ahead for the renewal of one of Albany's most valued and well used community facilities.
Chief Executive Officer Andrew Sharpe said the Budget demonstrated the City's commitment to responsible financial management and delivering on the priorities identified through the Council Plan.
"This Budget provides a clear and accountable pathway for delivering the outcomes our community has told us are important. By aligning our long-term planning with responsible financial management, we're ensuring the City is well positioned to deliver essential services, leverage external funding and continue investing in Albany's future," Mr Sharpe said.
