The City of Albany has been successful in securing a Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries Every Clubs grant.

The $25,000 grant will allow the City to work in partnership with local clubs to adequately and appropriately plan, invest in and support the sport and recreation needs of local community.

All community sporting clubs will be invited to take part in the development of a strategic club development program that will enable targeted sustainable support for volunteers and clubs.

Acting Manager Recreation Services Mitchell Green said community sport is part of the fabric of Albany.

“We have over 85 supported community sporting clubs which survive on volunteers, players, parents and coaches who dedicate their time to making each club a positive and inclusive environment,” he said.

“The Every Clubs grant will allow the City to ensure these clubs are given every opportunity to upskill their current members and grow their network.

“We are excited to work with community sporting clubs to make this five-year plan work for them and their members to future proof community sport in Albany.”

The State Government through Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries is a major supporter of community sport; building stronger, healthier, happier and safer communities.

The City will work with local community organisations to progress the implementation of the grant in the coming months.
