City of Albany Health & Wellbeing Plan

The City of Albany's Health & Wellbeing Plan is a mandatory requirement under Section 45 of the Public Health Act 2016 and guides coordinated local action to improve community wellbeing.
The new plan incorporates the City's Public Health Plan and the Safer Albany Plan into a single comprehensive plan.
The purpose of public health planning is to improve and promote public health and wellbeing in the community. This enables a flexible, proactive, and integrated risk-based approach to the provision of facilities, programs, and services that address not only environmental health but also chronic disease, mental health, and communicable diseases.
The City's Health & Wellbeing Plan is a high-level strategy, supported by a delivery action plan aligned with the City's Community Strategic Plan and the State Public Health Plan.
The Plan was developed based on the demographic, health profile and population risks unique to Albany. The action plan will be reviewed annually to enable the City to respond to new information (ie the 2026 Census Data once available, or any rising trends)
The Plan was adopted by Council at the May OCM to meet the legislative deadline of 4 June, subject to a public comment period. Any material amendments to the Plan will be reported back to Council for consideration.
