Boer War / Charge of Beersheba Service

Saturday 25th October 2025

Join RSL Albany for the Boer War / Charge of Beersheba Service at the Desert Mounted Corps Memorial on Saturday, 25 October.

This combined service commemorates two significant conflicts in Australia’s mounted military history.

The Boer War (1899–1902) marked Australia’s first involvement in an overseas conflict, while the Charge of Beersheba (31 October 1917) is remembered as the last mass cavalry charge in military history. Both events saw Australian troops serve as mounted infantry—riding on horseback but fighting predominantly on foot.

Date: Saturday, 25 October 2025
Time: 2:00pm
Location: Desert Mounted Corps Memorial (In case of inclement weather, the service will be held at RSL Albany.)
